The tales of days gone by ( Purano shei diner katha)

A translation of  "Purano shei diner katha" by Rabindranath Thakur, which an old friend asked for. Dedicated to all my old friends. Auld Lang Syne!

Original An English translation
Purano shei diner kotha
Bhulbi kii re hai
O shei chokher dekha praaner kotha
Shay kii bhola jaaye

Aaye aar ektibar aayre shokha
Praner majhe aaye
Mora shukher dukher kotha kobo
Praan jodabe tai

Mora bhorer bela phuul tulechi
Dulechi dolaaye
Bajiye baanshi gaan geyechi
Bokuler tolai

Hai majhe holo chadachadi
Gelem ke kothaye,
Abaar dekha jodi holo shokha
Praner majhe aai
The tales of days gone by
Will you ever forget?
O all the soulful tales and sights
Who can ever forget?

Once more, my friend, once more,
Come into my soul.
We'll talk of smiles and tears
And be a single whole.

We've plucked the flowers in the dawn,
Swung on the swing.
Played the flute 'n' sung the songs
B'neath a leafy ring.

Alas! We went our different ways,
Going for our goal.
If again we meet, my dear,
Come into my soul.
